It was a sweltering 100-degree afternoon to remember at Picnic at the Park, the official opening ceremony of Las Vegas’s premier culinary and wine event, the 12th Annual Vegas Uncork’d by Bon Appétit.
The ‘saber off extravaganza’ at The Park Las Vegas brought together the culinary and cocktail masters who grace the restaurants and bars on the Las Vegas Strip. Chefs and special guests included chef Guy Savoy and chef Julien Asseo of Restaurant Guy Savoy; chef Susan Feniger of Border Grill; Frank Pellegrino Jr. of Rao; chef Shawn McClain; and the Modern Mixologist Tony Abou-Ganim of Libertine Social; and Adam Rapoport, former editor in chief of Bon Appétit; among other fabulous guests.
The host of the afternoon was Mondays after Dark and Vegas Golden Knights emcee, Mark Shunock. “Iron Chef” Masaharu Morimoto had the honor of kicking off Vegas Uncork’d when he sabered a magnum bottle of Prosecco. It took a couple of tries and one broken bottle, but he did the trick and Vegas Uncork’d was underway.
The Saber Off event also featured a variety of interactive games, including shooting hoops with two players from Las Vegas’ newest professional sports team, the WNBA’s Las Vegas Aces, Moriah Jefferson and Kayla Alexander.
The festivities will continue throughout the weekend with numerous events hosted by celebrity chefs. Chef Gordon Ramsay will open the doors of his new Hell’s Kitchen for a Master Series as part of a special opening evening of Vegas Uncork’d.
