Local and national chefs used their culinary talents to support the Urban Seed Foundation. Shaun King, of Momofuku, Josh Smith, of Bardot Brasserie, Barry Dakake, of Scotch 80 Prime, Mary Sue Milliken and Mike Minor of Border Grill, and Justin Hall, of The Kitchen at Atomic, were among the participating chefs at the annual 8 Gala held at Nove Italiano restaurant at the Palms.
More than 100 guests sampled dishes and helped raise $24,500 for the volunteer-run organization, which receives grants from the nonprofit Nevada Community Foundation.
Mark Engler, ChoiceCenter Leadership University, and Jolene Mannina were honored for their philanthropic support and collaboration. Proceeds will go toward developing community gardens, food distribution programs for at-risk communities and nutrition education.
